Connecticut has passed a new law aimed at boosting solar energy, which includes extending renewable energy incentives, creating a community solar program, and requiring automated permit processing for residential solar projects. The law also authorizes the use of plug-in solar systems. The policy changes are expected to support the growth of solar energy in the state.
U.S. energy consumption has evolved over 250 years from wood to modern technologies in 2025 totaling 96 quadrillion British thermal units (quads). Petroleum was the most-used energy source last year, followed closely by natural gas, with renewables making up about 9% of total energy use. This marks a slight increase over 2024 but below the record set in 2007.
